PM Modi Avoids Luxurious Hotels, Takes Baths At Airports During Foreign Visit: Amit Shah

Supported by

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday, November 27 praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Lok Sabha for his disciplined personal and public life.

He said that the prime minister prefers to rest and take a bath at airport terminals instead of staying in luxury five-star hotels during his foreign transit.

Further eulogising Modi’s lifestyle, Shah said that when PM Modi goes on a state visit abroad, he takes less than 20 per cent staff with him. “For the official delegation, he has discouraged using a large number of cars. Earlier officials were using separate cars now they use a bus or a large vehicle.”

Replying to the ongoing debate of removal of Special Protection Group (Amendment) Bill, 2019, Shah attacked the Gandhi family for misusing the security cover of Special Protection Group. Shah admired PM Modi for never showing off the security bluebook in the past 20 years.

Shah said that for some, security cover is a status symbol, whereas, for others, security has become a trivial issue where norms are violated at will. “Let us follow the example of Modiji who adheres to the security norms and protocols,” Shah added.

It is to be noted that PM Modi has been provided state security for the past two decades since he first became the chief minister of Gujarat.

Pulling out Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi’s comment on PM Modi violating SPG protection in 2017 during a seaplane ride in Gujarat, Shah defended Modi and said that seaplane was thoroughly checked by SPG and they were present in the seaplane too.

“The seaplane was thoroughly checked and cleared by the SPG and SPG personnel were deployed inside the seaplane. Besides, the objective of the ride was to promote tourism in Gujarat. It was not a personal fun ride,” Shah concluded.

The government spent ₹255 crore on chartered flights during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign engagements in the past three years.
