‘This is How I Celebrate Eid’: Kerala Garment Seller Donates His Entire Stock to Flood Victims

As the rain fury continues unabated in Kerala and claims the lives of many, a local trader has been lauded by netizens for his humble and generous efforts. 

Amid all the gloom, Noushad, who sells garments in Ernakulam has donated his entire garment stockpile to the flood victims in Kerala. He gave most of the material to women and children. 

Noushad donated as many as five sacks of garments for the flood relief drive.

A group of volunteers led by Actor Rajesh Sharma were collecting relief material to be sent to the Malabar region, the area which has suffered the maximum damage due to the devastating floods.

Rajesh took to Facebook to narrate the incident, and since then, the video has garnered a lot of appreciation from Netizens. 

RELIEF CONTRIBUTION NOUSHAD

“We don’t carry anything along while we depart from this world; my profit is in helping the needy. Tomorrow is Bakrid, this is how I celebrate it,” Noushad said in the video which has widely been shared on the social media.

“I did the same when floods struck the state last year. I am doing it again. All that I have is given by the Almighty. I am feeling happy,” Noushad said. 

Kerala Public Works Minister G Sudhakaran took to Facebook to appreciate the efforts of the trader and said that Noushad has sent out a very positive message to the society.

The incessant rains have thrown the life out of gear in Kerala, over 2.27 lakh people have taken shelter in 1,551 relief camps. The death toll has mounted to 72. MET department predicts more rains across the state in the coming weeks.

“No one can fail us as long as we have got thousands of people like Noushad who are ready to help us, leaving the differences aside,” Malayalam Film Star Asif Ali wrote on Facebook.

Ernakulam District Collector S Suhas also praised Noushad. Suhas said that he spoke to Noushad over the phone and will meet him in person once he is done with the rescue and relief work.

The Logical Indian salutes Noushad’s selfless contribution to the Kerala flood victims. Men like Noushad epitomise courage and kindness in these testing times.
