Netizens are appreciating BJP MP Maneka Gandhi for her promptness in sending help after a woman tweeted about an injured monkey on the roadside.

On spotting a monkey lying injured on the roadside in central Delhi, journalist Bharti Jain posted a picture of the animal on Twitter and tagged Maneka Gandhi.

“This monkey is injured and in a very bad state. Please, some NGO or animal rights activist come forward to rescue him. This is near Press Club of India at Raisina Road, New Delhi,” she tweeted, tagging Maneka Gandhi

Gandhi, who is a wildlife enthusiast, responded within an hour. “Thank you for tagging me. I’m sending a car right now to have him sent to Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Centre for treatment. The car will be there in a few minutes,” she tweeted.

Within an hour of Gandhi’s first update, Jain wrote that a rescue team had arrived and the monkey was in good hands. “The monkey has been picked up and is sure is in good hands. Thanks!” she wrote.

Maneka Gandhi later posted an update that the monkey was severely injured and is currently under medical attention.

“UPDATE: The monkey was severely injured and had maggots all over his body. He is currently being treated at the hospital and is on his way to complete recovery,” she wrote.

Several people took to Twitter and praised Gandhi’s preparedness for taking immediate action to save the animal.
