“Drop Arms & Have Lunch With Me”: J&K Governor’s Invitation To Militants

Supported by

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik on June 12 asked the militants to drop the arms and tread the path of dialogue and democracy.

“You have your own constitution and flag and if you want anything more, it will be given to you through dialogue and democratic means within the constitution of India,” Malik said during a press conference in Srinagar.

“Come To Me & Have Lunch At Raj Bhawan”

Malik hit out at the mainstream politicians for ‘mistreating’ people in Kashmir. He further added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ready to listen to youngsters of the valley, provided they leave the path of violence.

He said that these youngsters are being falsely made to believe that they are fighting jihad for the cause of ‘Allah and Nation’ and that now was the time to ‘tell them the truth and bring them to the right path’. He said that while New Delhi acted in the wrong way at times on Kashmir, the leaders of Kashmir have done ‘more wrongs’.

“Let the youngsters drop the arms and come to me and have lunch at Raj Bhawan and convince me how they can do good to Kashmir through what they are doing?” he said.

“Nothing To Worry About Articles 370 & 35A”

In the same press conference, Governor Malik, responding to a query on the revocation of Article 370 and 35A in the Indian Constitution as promised by political parties, said that though there were a lot of talks about it, there is ‘nothing to worry about it’.

He also dismissed the reports of delimitation of Assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir as ‘rumours’.

The reports of Centre deliberating on the delimitation in the state were doing the rounds a few weeks back. Mainstream parties reacted to it and said that it was an attempt to ‘inflict another emotional partition’ on the state on communal lines.

“There is a rumour about delimitation. It is not something that can be done overnight as it is a constitutional matter. Even the home ministry has not confirmed that they are doing something like this. There are basically just rumours and newspaper reports, there is no basis to these,” Governor said.

He also promised a ‘corruption-free’ Jammu and Kashmir.
