Well, we have heard about the cases of impersonation which left officials in shock and the case of BR Ambedkar University at Agra has left the officials startled when results of B.Ed exams were about to be out. On a lighter note it seems that ghost students were enrolled at the colleges.

While around 12,800 regular students were enrolled at the varsity, 20,000 had passed. The results had to withhold at the eleventh hour and an enquiry was commissioned which opened Pandora’s Box. A probe ordered by the VC is underway while several private college authorities are expected to land in jail for gross irregularities.

The university has issued letters to private colleges where the student’s non-enrolled students had studied.

The suspicion was created when the private agency preparing the results objected that they only had the data of 12,800 students while copies of 7,000 extra students were checked. Since the agency showed helplessness in declaring results, the VC issued letters to the colleges ordering them to come up with the list of enrolled students which may land several colleges in the soup.

Private colleges then claimed that they had taken more students against seats lying vacant and these extra students also took the exam.

On the same breath, as reported by Economic Times, as many as 191 B.Ed colleges affiliated to Dr BR Ambedkar University had claimed that more than 40% of their seats were lying vacant in the academic session of 2013-2014.

The university has now sought individual data of students who passed the test. Varsity officials have also asked for CDs of the counselling sessions to find out which students actually appeared in the B.Ed entrance exam.
