Hyderabad Doctor Offered Free Treatment For Woman Who Was Given Triple Talaq For Crooked Teeth

Supported by

There have been numerous cases of Triple Talaq where women were given divorce for trivial reasons. One such recent case is of Rukhsana Begum from Hyderabad where her husband allegedly gave her a triple talaq for her crooked teeth. Reading her case, Dr Mir Nada, a doctor from Alux Dental Hospital extended an offer to treat her without charging any fees.

Mir Nada on Tuesday told ANI, “We read about the woman who was allegedly given triple talaq due to dental issues. Our dental organisation wants to help in her dental treatment without taking any fee from her. The victim has crooked teeth and we wanted to look at her problem and see what best treatment can be provided to her. Our main objective is that her problem gets fixed and she can lead a happy, healthy life.”

Rukhsana got married to Mustafa in June this year and within three months he divorced her by Triple Talaq because of her crooked teeth. According to the Police of Kushaiguda, a case was registered against Mustafa on October 31 and he is in police custody now.

The cases of Triple Talaq have always raised concerns about gender inequality that placed men on a higher pedestal. In most of the cases, women were taken by their face value and treated as mere objects. This step taken by Dr Mir Nada sends a strong message that the woman who faced the wrath of toxic masculinity through this age-old practice is not alone anymore. Not just Triple Talaq but any faith that is primitive and belongs to a bygone era posing threat to equality and peace can be foght only when people come together and act against it.
