A day after Gurugram police registered a counter FIR against the members of the Muslim family who were allegedly beaten up by the mob on March 21, the family is planning to leave the city, reported by Hindustan Times.

The complainant, Rajkumar, was arrested by Gurgaon Police on March 27. At the time of arrest, he had some head injuries. Upon questioning, Rajkumar presented a different version of the entire incident.

What happened?

Rajkumar alleged that he was beaten up by the Mohammad Sajjid and his family who were playing on the ground, when he was going on a bike and a ball hit him. When he objected, he was beaten up by the men who were playing on the ground, he said.

Mohammad Abid and Aamir Khan have been named in FIR, who are believed to be nephews of Mohammad Sajid, who was allegedly thrashed by the mob.

The family was planning to shift to another city but on the assurance of police commissioner, they have averted the plan now.

According to the family, they came to know about the FIR through media persons as police haven’t contacted them yet. “We fell threatened and hopeless, since the attack took place and we no longer want to stay here, our children are still in deep shock,’’ said Sajid.

“We haven’t heard a word from Chief Minister or any Minister so far, this is least what we can hope, we don’t believe that we will get justice and therefore we demand that this case should be handled by CBI than only justice could be delivered,’’ he said.

The police commissioner told TOI that safety of that family would be insured and we have detailed some policeman outside their home as to prevent any untoward activity.

An incident that happened on March 21, where a fight broke out between a Muslim family and locals over cricket match and locals barged into the Mohammed Sajid home and a video that went viral, clearly showing some men beating him harshly, the man armed with swords and sticks. Sajid’s wife claimed the attackers also stole a chain, a pair of earrings, and Rs 25,000 in cash. After the incident, the family was scared of living in the same vicinity. They had apprehensions of the accused coming back to threaten them again.
