In a shocking incident, an unwell bride who threw up just before her marriage, was taken to a hospital to test her virginity and pregnancy by her spouse allegedly without her consent, reported Times Of India.

The woman has filed police complaint and moved to court against her husband for harassing her and suspecting her fidelity.

The husband, who is an HR professional and works for a reputed firm didn’t accept his crimes, while he was undergoing counselling sessions conducted at Parihar family counselling centre attached to Bengaluru city police.

As per the Times Of India report, a source from the counselling office, informed that the two had met on a matrimonial site. After a few days, both decided to marry in November 2018. However, just 15 days before the marriage, the mother of the bride died due to cancer and the bride went into depression. This is when Deepak (name changed) started thinking that Madhu (name changed) is not happy with her marriage. Instead of consoling her, Deepak misunderstood her. Madhu relied on one of her friends who hailed from her hometown, this further concerned Deepak.

On the wedding day Madhu, vomited due to gastritis. Deepak carried her to hospital. It took sometime for Madhu to realise that she was taken for pregnancy and virginity tests and not for her current health condition. After the test, she slammed Deepak and went to stay with her sister. Three months after the dispute, Deepak moved to Parihar family counselling centre and lodged a complaint against his wife. After the centre called Madhu to solve the dispute, the counselors got to know the ordeals she went through.

The counselors were shocked to know that Madhu was taken for pregnancy and virginity test without her consent. The centre called for counselling Deepak under Madhu’s request, but he never showed up. Deepak has opted for divorce.

The Logical Indian Take

Although education and exposure have brought about a change in the thought process of many young girls in society, they are still scared to voice their opinion. Madhu decision to take his husband to court is courageous. This practice humiliates and demeans women. In this age, when people talk of liberal mindset and equality and freedom, patriarchal practices like these prevailing in our society is shameful. The Logical Indian condemns the practice.
