Jharkhand: 3-Yr-Old Gangraped, Beheaded; Cops Still In Search Of The Head

A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped and beheaded by two men who abducted her from a platform of the Tatanagar railway station in Jharkhand last week, said police on July 31.

The cops have found the girl’s torso in a plastic bag from a bush under the Telco police station area on the night of July 30. They have arrested three people in connection to the crime.

The Incident

According to the police, the incident took place on the night of July 26, Friday, when Rinku Sahu (36) and Kailash Kumar (38) kidnapped the girl while she was sleeping with her mother and her male companion Monu Mondal on the Tatanagar Platform 1.

The mother later lodged a complaint with the police and also alleged Mondal of abducting the girl in connivance with his unknown friends. The mother eloped with Mondal after leaving her husband in Purulia. Mondal was arrested, and police are investigating his role in the crime.

Taking the help of the CCTV footage of the platform, the police identified Sahu and Kumar and arrested them. Both of them have confessed to have beheaded the girl after raping and strangulating the her to death. However, both of them have failed to explain where the missing head was.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) are still searching for the severed head of the toddler. Sniffer dogs were roped in to locate the head. Police have also taken the help of rag pickers and sanitation workers to find the missing head.

Shockingly, Sahu has a criminal record and was also accused in two separate cases of sexual assault and attempt to murder lodged in 2008 and 2015. Deputy Superintendent of Government Railway of Police (Tatanagar) NM Ansari said that Sahu was in jail for two years for the 2015 case and got out last year. The Times Of India reported that Sahu’s mother, who is a police constable, helped him get away with his previous crimes.

The barbaric gang rape has sent shock waves throughout the country. Actor Anushka Sharma on August 1, took to the Twitter to condemn the heinous act. She, in her two-part tweet, said that exemplary punishment should be meted out to culprits to stop others from committing similar crimes.
