Telangana: Man Carries Daughter’s Corpse In Arms As Hospital Fails To Provide Ambulance

Supported by

A father from Telangana’s Karimnagar district was seen carrying the corpse of his daughter in his arms in a government hospital.

A daily wage labourer, Sampath Kumar, unable to afford a private ambulance, had requested the hospital to provide an ambulance.

The hospital, allegedly, refused to oblige unless he paid Rs 5,000. The helpless father had to then carry his daughter’s body. Fortunately, a good samaritan auto driver dropped him home.

The hospital authorities, however, have denied the accusations.

Poor Father Carries Daughter’s Corpse In Arms

Kumar, who is a resident of Kunaram village in Peddapalle district, admitted his 7-year-old daughter Komalatha in Karimnagar Government Hospital on August 31. She was suffering from a kidney-related ailment. She died the very next day, due to failure of both her kidneys.

As soon as the image of the weeping father carrying his daughter was carried by a Telugu newspaper named ‘Velugu’, there was a huge outrage against the hospital.

While speaking to the media, the uncle of the girl said that the hospital refused to provide ambulance service. He also alleged that the doctors were also very negligent.

The hospital Superintendent Dr Ajay Kumar denied all the allegations, The News Minute reported. He called the reports as an attempt to ‘demonize’ the hospital. He also said that the hospital was open to any probe in the matter.

“The girl died around 2 pm. The father must have been devastated with it, as he couldn’t contain his emotions he just left the hospital without informing the Resident Medical Officer or the staff. He did not approach us seeking our help to arrange the vehicle. None of the staff was aware of the incident,” Dr Kumar said.
