India Inc Breaks Silence, Questions Govt On Economy After Rahul Bajaj’s Criticism

After Former Chairman of Bajaj Group, Rahul Bajaj broke his silence on Hindu nationalism, tax terrorism, incarceration of political leaders in Kashmir, lynchings and the appanage that the guilty enjoys, industrialists came in support of his ‘apprehension narrative’.

Biocon chairperson and managing director, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw on Sunday, said the government did not want to hear any criticism on the economy. She also urged India Inc to work out solutions to revive growth.

“Hope the govt reaches out to India inc for working out solutions to revive consumption and growth. So far we are all pariahs n govt does not want to hear any criticism of our economy,” Shaw said in a tweet.

Shaw also took a dig on Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman when the later criticised Bajaj for not seeking a better redressal to his concern and spreading his views that can be detrimental to the national interest.

On this note, Shaw tweeted, “Madam we are neither anti-national nor anti-government. We want you to succeed big time as the fastest growing economy n rise to the top of the global league of economies. I am a proud apolitical National n only want the Govt to promote good policies including at State level,” Shaw tweeted.

Bajaj’s comments indeed opened grounds for discussion which earlier seemed threatening to many industrialists.

A few days ago former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh too had criticised Modi government’s financial strategy.  “The state of our economy is deeply worrying. But today I will argue how the state of our society is even more worrisome, and that is a fundamental reason for the precarious state of our economy,” he said.

Industrialist Harsh Goenka of RPG Enterprises described Singh’s comments as “valid points” but later deleted his tweet. Goenka’s retreat from Twitter post substantiates corporate silencing.
