Supported by

Northern Army Commander Lt. Gen. D.S. Hooda, who is considered the face of the surgical strike, which was carried out across Line of Control by Indian Military forces in 2016 said that initial happiness over the success of the operation was natural, but the persistent hype was unwarranted, reported The Hindu.

The Revelation of Uri Attack

Ds Hooda Surgical Strike

Lt General DS Hooda had confirmed the plans for special forces to retaliate within the two weeks after the Uri terror attack. The Lt General reveals that the strike on brigade headquarters at Uri had left 17 soldiers dead. Moreover, the terrorist had an eye on military installations since the end of 2013.  The plan received a go-ahead signal from the Prime Minister and national security advisor.

The former chief of the Northern Army Commander revealed the details of the surgical strike during a discussion held on ‘Role of Cross-Border Operations and Surgical Strikes’ at the Military Literature Festival 2018. The event was being inaugurated by Punjab Governor V.P Singh Badnore and other army commanders.

Politicians are using Military Forces as a bait

The Lt General DS Hooda said to Hindustan Times that politicians are using military forces as a tool and they are helpless to take action against them “The military leadership must guard against becoming a tool in the hands of politicians. We can’t take military action to suit someone politically.”

The Former chief  Northern Army Officer was unhappy the way the surgical attack had received unnecessary attention to media and wished that it would have been carried out secretly without any hype around it.

Difficulties in Future terror attacks

It had set a treacherous benchmark for the Indian Political dispensation which would be difficult in maintaining eventuality in future terror attacks. As per NDTV Lt general, Brar warned the politicians for being adventurist and blamed them for not being responsible enough during the strike. And he also cited an example of 1981 Israeli air strikes at Iraqi nuclear sites, that had caused remarkable damage. Lt N.S Brar(retd) highlighted the need for long-term impact on the enemy during future surgical strikes.
