Hyderabad Vet Gang-Rape Case: RTO Officials Had Caught Driver For Expired License Two Days Before Crime

The prime accused in the 26-year-old Hyderabad veterinary doctor’s gang-rape and murder case, Mohammad Arif, did not have valid documents or permit for his truck and possessed a driving license which had expired in 2017.

The remand report, which is shared by the police involved the statements of the four accused. Mohammad, who worked as the truck driver, confessed to the police that he was transporting bricks from Gangavathi town in Karnataka’s Koppal District to Hyderabad while illegally carrying steel channels for delivery in Hyderabad itself.

On the way, Telangana RTO Officials caught Mohammad near Mahabubnagar town around 4 am on November 25 and tried to seize the truck due to absence of a valid permit, overloading, and for possessing an expired driving license. On instructions of the owner of the truck, Srinivas Reddy he removed the ignition button cable, and the officials could not start the vehicle. The RTO officials then left without seizing the truck.

In a statement to the Times of India, RTO Inspector Bhukya Chiranjeevi who had intercepted the truck said when the officials returned, they saw that the truck was missing.

Mohammad then went to the Raikal toll plaza in Shadngar, where he sold off iron scrap worth ₹4000. Around 9 pm on November 26, the four of them reached Shamshabad, parked the truck by the roadside and slept inside the vehicle.

On the day of the incident, the accused went to the Thondupally ORR toll plaza and parked the truck. They were busy drinking when they saw the veterinary doctor park her scooter next to the truck. They immediately hatched a plan to target her, a police official told Times of India.

Apart from overloading, the truck has had a slew of violations against it, ranging from overloading to breaking traffic rules. The police are now investigating in the case and have initiated action against truck owner Srinivas Reddy.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday ordered setting up of a fast-track court for expeditious trial in the case and has assured all necessary help to the victim’s family.

All four men, accused of committing the crime, punctured the rear wheel of the victim’s two-wheeler and offered to help her. However, they dragged her to a secluded spot close to a Shamshabad toll plaza and gang raped her.

The woman doctor’s charred body was found on Thursday at around 7 am under a culvert in Chatanpally on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru national highway. The accused were nabbed from their houses on Friday.
