Hyderabad Cyber Police on December 3 arrested a youngster from Fakirabad in Nizamabad district after he posted distasteful comments on social media platform about the rape and murder of a 26-year-old Hyderabad veterinary doctor.
The accused, identified as Chavan Sriram, an ITI graduate, worked at a fast-food outlet. According to Deccan Chronicle, he had returned to his home two months ago and has been jobless since. He used his Facebook account called Stalin Sriram to post vulgar comments about the victim.
Avanish Mohanty, Joint Commissioner of Police (Detective Department) told The Hindu that Sriram’s vulgar comments were doing rounds on social media.
Sriram was arrested after a suo motu case was registered on November 30.
Following the outrage on social media, the Cyberabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on December 1 urged people to not take the real name of the victim and rather call her ‘Disha’. The Commissioner consulted the family before calling the victim Disha.
Cops are cracking a whip on people like Sriram who have posted nasty comments or using her original pictures.
Cyber crime inspector N. Mohan Rao said that multiple teams are working to trace and nab the culprits.
The Rachakonda cyber-crime police have booked another person for offensive comments and using Disha’s image after a resident of Saroornagar approached the cops complaining about the same.
Meanwhile, the cops have sought custody of the four accused in the murder and rape of the vet for ten days to reconstruct the crime scene and find evidence to connect with the crime.
