It is yet another appalling incident of barbarity from the so called civil society. The event occurred on 7th November at Bakhar, a village in Khandva, Madhya Pradesh. It comes under the jurisdiction of Khalava police station.
The 35-year-old woman is an Adivasi belonging to Koruk community. She was accused of practicing black magic. Hence, on Friday evening other women of the village started bickering with her. She was dragged out of her home by the villagers at midnight. When her husband tried to intervene he was badly assaulted. He somehow escaped and reached the police station.
Meanwhile, some villagers tore off the woman’s clothes and forced her to parade naked in the village and even made her drink water from a drain. This continued for an hour and might have taken a turn for the worse but fortunately, the police arrived.
The woman was extricated from the villagers and taken to the primary hospital in Khandva where she was given first aid. Since her condition was critical she was referred to the district hospital.
A case has been registered with the local police and investigation is on.
The Logical Indian community strongly condemns such superstitious beliefs in people and wonders how many people woukd be sacrificed to such blind superstition before it is totally eradicated from society.
