The Congress state government in Madhya Pradesh on July 25, a day after two BJP MLAs supported them in assembly, boasted that more than half a dozen BJP MLAs are in contact with MP Chief Minister Kamal Nath.

Congress Spokesperson Narendra Saluja, who is also the CM’s media convener, said that some BJP MLAs who attended RSS shakhas in the morning are in close touch with the Congress party.

Saluja, highlighting Wednesday’s voting in Assembly, said that it is just the “trailer of the real film”. Taking a jibe at the leader of Opposition Gopal Bhargava’s comment of toppling the state government, he said that the BJP itself could not handle their own house.

Bhargava, just before the voting on Wednesday, said, “If No.1 and No. 2 give instruction, then Congress government in BJP will fall within 24 hours.”

Saluja told reporters that Congress is interested in the development of the state. He further said that if BJP continues to threat, then they are yet to watch the entire movie.

The self-styled godman – Computer Baba – has also claimed that four BJP MLAs who support Congress are in touch with him. Computer Baba, who is also the chairman of a river trust, refused to reveal the identity of these MLAs. He said that he would present these MLAs in front of the CM when he is asked to do so.

PC Sharma, the law minister of the state said that Wednesday’s voting has proved that BJP MLAs are in touch with the Congress.

What Happened On Wednesday?

Just a day after Congress lost its foothold in Karnataka, two BJP MLAs from Madhya Pradesh supported the Congress government over a Criminal Law Bill 2019 in the Assembly.

After the voting, Kamal Nath in a press conference with two BJP MLAs – Narayan Tripathi and Sharad Kol – said, “Everyday, BJP claims we are a minority government and could fall any day. Today, two BJP MLAs have voted for Congress. We have gained the support of 122 MLAs in the House. Ab doodh ka doodh, paani ka paani ho gaya.”

According to media reports, both of them have said, “We are with Congress”. The duo – Tripathi and Kol – are representing Maihar and Beohari constituency and was with the grand old party earlier. However, they have not tendered their resignation letters.

Tripathi also criticised BJP and said that the party never gives respect to those who join it. He further termed his support for Congress as “Ghar Wapsi”.

Both the MLAs after voting procedure met Leader Suresh Pachouri at his residence. The MLAs have also said that they want to work for the betterment of their constituencies.

In the assembly during the discussion on the Bill, BSP MLA Sanjeev Singh opposed it and demanded a division. The real shocker came in the tally after the Speaker called for a vote. Congress garnered 122 votes , including votes from the two BJP MLAs.

After the voting process, Bhargava told the media person that it does not matter if two BJP MLAs support Congress as the party has earlier supported the bill.
