Ayodhya: Man Arrested For Repeatedly Raping Several Cows In Cattle Shelter

A man from Ayodhya has been arrested for raping several cows at a cattle shelter in the city. The accused has been identified as Rajkumar, who hails from Nawabganj’s Gonda. He frequently visited Kartaliya Baba Ashram where he was caught red-handed.

The incident

The incident came to the fore after volunteers who help with daily chores of the Kartaliya Baba Ashram discovered CCTV camera footages of a man raping several cows. From then onwards, the volunteers kept a close watch on the shelter.

The accused came back to the cattle shelter again earlier this month and attempted to rape the animals again. However, he was caught by the volunteers and brutally beaten up, before being handed over to the police.

According to a report by India Today, Ayodhya SSP Jogendra Kumar said that Rajkumar has been arrested and booked under sections 376 and 511 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), for cruelty against animals.

According to the accused, he was inebriated and did not know what he did.

“I was drunk, I don’t know what I did, I only remember that I was beaten by both, people who caught me and the police,” Rajkumar said.

“CCTV footage shows the man doing unspeakable acts with seven cows one by one. We have caught him and brought to the police station. The act has left us distraught, we are unable to understand this,” a distressed priest of the Kartaliya Baba Ashram, Ramdas, said.

According to Mirror Now, an animal rights activist based out of Delhi-NCR claimed earlier this year that cases, where animals are raped, are often treated with indifference by police. There have been several reports of stray dogs being raped.

In July 2018, massive outrage broke out after a pregnant goat was reportedly gang-raped by eight men in Mewat area of Haryana.
