In an attempt to celebrate coexistence, 21 organisations representing indigenous Muslims of Assam have decided to contribute to the making of the grand temple in Ayodhya. The committee has decided to donate Rs 5 Lakh to the trust which will be formulated by the Centre within three months.

Jonogusthiya Somonnoy Parishad Asom (JSPA) include Goria, Moria, Deshiya, Jalha, Maimal and Kachari Muslims, whose lineages converted to Islam from different indigenous groups of the state.

The announcement was made by The All Assam Goriya Moriya Yuva Chatra Parishad, a youth and student council of indigenous Muslims in Assam, after the Supreme Court verdict on the Ayodhya land dispute on November 8, Saturday.

“We welcome the Supreme Court’s historic verdict. We urge everyone to accept the verdict and maintain peace and harmony. Our organization will provide Rs 1 lakh for the construction of the Ram Temple,” a statement issued by the organization’s general secretary Mainul Haque said.

The statement came at a time when the security was tightened in sensitive areas of Assam as the Supreme Court’s verdict on Ayodhya was preponed for November 8.

The districts of Dhubri, Goalpara, South Salmara Barpeta and Bongaigaon in Western Assam and Nagaon, Hojai, Morigaon in the central part of Assam were under tight vigilance as Section 144 imposed across major cities in the nation. Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi, who led the verdict on Ayodhya land dispute, also hails from the same state.

No violent protest or riot has been reported so far as both Hindus and Muslims communities pedalled peace and communal harmony with the #hindumuslimbhaibhai trending on social media platforms.
