An Apology To Our Community: Remember The Video Of A Drunk Cop On The Delhi Metro?

Supported by

Mr Salim, a head constable from the Delhi Police was part of a video which stormed the internet last year (August 2015). The cop, according to recent reports, was wrongly doubted as a being drunk. According to media reports, it turns out that Mr Salim had suffered a stroke leaving a part of his body paralysed. The wrong reportage led to Mr Salim seeking recourse for defamation in the Supreme Court.

Track record
The public outrage over the wrong report led Mr Salim to be suspended and later after re-instated after receiving a clean chit from Mr Bassi (former Delhi Police Chief). The Police department has also clarified on his impeccable record who was also part of the security team of Mr P Chidambaram and Ms Sheila Dixit.
The Delhi Police department has also changed his “suspension” period as “Spent on duty”.

Why Did The Logical Indian Post-It?
As you might be aware, every post which is shared on our platform is specific to awareness and information to benefit the larger good by appreciating what is right and highlight and criticizing what is wrong. At hindsight, the video appeared to be a policeman who caused disrepute to his uniform which we realise was an inaccurate reading of the same after the recent revelations of his medical condition.

Apology
The Logical Indian tenders its sincere apology to the public and community members alike to have shared the video on our platform. We wish Mr Salim good health and the best wishes for his future.

He is not only devaluing the uniform, but is also setting the wrong example. Officials should take strict action against his misconduct and set an example.
