Who says change can’t be brought by social media and good journalism? Yesterday, the story of a policeman smashing the typewriter of an old man was reported by Ashutosh Tripathi of Dainik Bhaskar. In a few hours, it revolutionised the whole social media. We also shared the story with our community members.
This story is a fine example of courageous Journalism. Even after the Policeman asked the photographer to delete the photos he had clicked, he refused to do so. According to a reporter of Dainik Bhaskar, they didn’t put a watermark on the image and uploaded it directly on the Social Media because they wanted the story to reach the larger audience and action could be taken. The policeman was suspended yesterday evening only.
After the story got posted on social media, help started pouring in. Many asked the address and phone no. of the old man, so that they could help in anyway possible. The state government also got aware of the issue and provided a new typewriter to the old man. SSP Lucknow Mr. Rajesh Pandey and DM Lucknow Mr. Raj Shekhar themselves took the step to meet the old man and hand him over his new typewriter.
Our policemen also need to be a little sensitive while handling such issues. The world can be a much better place with a little more love towards another human being. And everyone can give a little love, to get a little love of their own.

We sincerely thank Ashutosh and Dainik Bhaskar. Kudos to everyone who came forward to offer help to the old man. When we ‘act’, things change. It is on us to make a story important and bring some changes through it.
