Karnataka will mark its 79th Independence Day with a grand parade at the Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground in Bengaluru on August 15, 2025, starting at 9 am. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will hoist the national flag, deliver the state’s Independence Day address, and review the ceremonial march-past.

The event will bring together over 1,150 police and armed forces personnel alongside 1,150 students performing cultural presentations that spotlight Karnataka’s history, heritage, and contemporary achievements.

For the first time, public entry is facilitated through an Aadhaar-linked online e-pass system, enabling wider participation while maintaining tight security measures, including 2,000 police personnel on duty, 600 CCTV cameras, baggage checks, and road traffic restrictions.

Authorities have strongly advised attendees to use public transport due to limited parking and security checks, underlining the state’s focus on a safe, inclusive, and participatory celebration.

A Grand Display of Karnataka’s Heritage, Patriotism, and Unity

This year’s parade promises an immersive experience with 35 contingents from central and state security forces, including Karnataka Special Reserve Police (KSRP), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Railway Protection Force, and even a ceremonial representation from the Goa Police.

The Karnataka Police Band, featuring 253 members, will play stirring renditions of patriotic music during the parade. Cultural segments carry deep symbolic weight: 650 students from BBMP Composite PU College, Herohalli, will perform “Swatantra Sangramada Veera Kannadathiyaru,” a tribute to the women of Karnataka whose valor and sacrifice helped shape the freedom struggle.

Meanwhile, 500 students from Sheshadripuram PU College will present a skit on the “Five Guarantees” of the Karnataka Government, reflecting current welfare priorities.

To accommodate growing public interest, seating capacity in the viewing galleries has been expanded to approximately 8,000 spectators, with live commentary planned to guide attendees through each segment of the proceedings

Comprehensive Preparations and Safety Protocols Behind the Scenes

Months of meticulous planning stand behind the parade’s execution. From rehearsals on the grounds to coordination between BBMP, the Karnataka Police, and the armed forces, every detail has been reviewed multiple times.

Around 2,000 personnel including police, home guards, and civil defence volunteers will be stationed across the venue, ensuring surveillance and crowd management. Security features include 600 CCTV cameras, with 100 units recently added just for the event, along with baggage scanners, metal detectors, and door frame detectors at all entry points.

Teams have also conducted checks of hotels, lodges, and guesthouses near the venue to maintain vigilance. Bengaluru Traffic Police have outlined a detailed diversion plan, restricting vehicle movement on Cubbon Road, MG Road, Central Street, and nearby areas from 8 am to noon.

The e-pass system, introduced this year, uses QR codes valid only for the day, adding a secure and eco-friendly dimension to public entry. Visitors have been asked to reach early, avoid prohibited items like cameras, bottled water, umbrellas, and sharp objects, and to rely on metro and BMTC services for convenience.

The BBMP has set up hydration points, medical aid stalls, and restrooms within the venue to handle health or weather-related emergencies.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

The 79th Independence Day parade in Karnataka is not just another ceremonial tradition it’s a living, breathing symbol of the state’s ethos: unity in diversity, courage in adversity, and a deep respect for heritage. This year’s inclusion-friendly measures, like the digitised e-pass system and expanded public seating, point towards a modern, more participatory approach to national celebrations. The focus on women freedom fighters in the cultural performances is especially significant, reminding us that equality and recognition are as patriotic as the tricolour itself.

At The Logical Indian, we believe such events carry a moral responsibility: they should ignite not only patriotic fervour but also empathy, compassion, and collective will for societal harmony. As we celebrate our freedom, let us ask ourselves: in a time when differences often divide, how can we channel the spirit of such inclusive celebrations into everyday life in our neighbourhoods, schools, workplaces, and streets to keep the idea of unity alive beyond August 15th.
