The Karnataka government has officially capped cinema ticket prices at Rs 200 across all theatres, including multiplexes, effective from September 12, 2025. This price cap applies to all film screenings in any language across the state, except for multi-screen cinemas with premium facilities having 75 seats or fewer, which are exempt.

Statewide Ticket Price Cap Introduced
Under the Karnataka Cinemas (Regulation) (Amendment) Rules, 2025, the maximum ticket price for any screening of a film in any language is fixed at Rs 200, exclusive of taxes. This price cap covers all theatres, including popular multiplexes, ensuring standardisation across the state.
The exemption for smaller multi-screen cinemas with premium services recognises the higher operating costs associated with such venues. The government finalised the notification after considering public feedback following a draft notification earlier this year.
