JioHotstar has expanded beyond India, launching its streaming service in the UK, Canada and Singapore on Wednesday, September 2.
The platform is offering more than 160,000 hours of entertainment across over 12 languages in the three markets, targeting South Asian audiences as well as viewers looking for Indian and multilingual content.
The international launch brings television, films, regional programming, non-fiction, kids’ entertainment and anime under the JioHotstar brand.
JioHotstar Launches Overseas
The streaming platform is available across mobile devices and connected TVs in the UK, Canada and Singapore. Users can access the service through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in all three markets.
JioHotstar said its international catalogue includes more than 160,000 hours of content spanning multiple languages and genres. The platform will also add more than 30,000 hours of fresh content every year, according to the company.
The offering includes premium Indian entertainment across television, films, regional programming, non-fiction, children’s content and anime. JioHotstar said the service has been designed to appeal to the South Asian diaspora while also reaching audiences interested in stories, languages and cultures from beyond their own markets.
Subscription Prices Vary By Market
JioHotstar has set separate subscription prices for each of the three markets.
In the UK, the service costs £19.99 for three months or £69.99 for a year. In Canada, subscribers pay C$19.99 quarterly or C$49.99 annually. In Singapore, the quarterly plan costs S$29.98, while the annual subscription is priced at S$69.98.
The platform is also introducing personalised recommendations and interactive features as part of its international offering. JioStar’s international business head Amit Malhotra said the company sees an opportunity to build for audiences beyond the South Asian diaspora rather than simply taking an Indian streaming service into new markets.
From India To Three Markets
The overseas launch comes after JioHotstar established a large domestic user base following the combination of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar’s India businesses.
According to Reliance Industries’ FY2025-26 reporting, JioHotstar averaged 451 million monthly active users during the year. The platform also recorded 72.5 million concurrent streams during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final, described by Reliance as a new global record.
The India service has a broader content proposition that includes entertainment and live sports. In January 2026, JioHotstar introduced monthly subscription options across its Mobile, Super and Premium tiers, with prices starting at ₹79 a month for new subscribers.
For the international rollout, JioHotstar is focusing its launch proposition on its entertainment catalogue and multilingual programming.
Content Across Languages
The international catalogue is built around the breadth of Indian entertainment, with content available across more than 12 languages. This includes regional programming alongside films, television shows, non-fiction, children’s programming and anime.
JioHotstar said the catalogue will continue to expand, with more than 30,000 hours of fresh content planned to be added annually.
The company has also been expanding its regional content offering in India. In August, JioHotstar said its Tamil original Resort had crossed 100 million watch hours, with 47% of the show’s watch time coming from audiences outside Tamil Nadu, including Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada viewers.
JioHotstar’s Global Push
The launch gives JioHotstar a presence across three international markets under a single brand while retaining its focus on Indian entertainment. The company has not announced a broader list of countries for the next phase of its international expansion.
For now, the UK, Canada and Singapore will serve as the first markets for the international JioHotstar service. With a catalogue of more than 160,000 hours, multilingual programming and a stated addition of over 30,000 hours of content every year, the platform is taking its Indian entertainment offering to audiences outside the country.
The international rollout marks the latest expansion of JioStar’s streaming business after JioHotstar established a 451-million average monthly active user base in India during FY2025-26.
