In an incident that has shocked the community, a seven-year-old girl from Dahod was allegedly raped and assaulted with a one-foot iron rod inserted into her private parts in Rajkot district, Gujarat, on December 4.

The minor was allegedly kidnapped from a farm in Atkot village, where her parents were working, and taken to an isolated spot. Police reports indicate that the accused, identified as 35-year-old farm labourer Ramsingh Terasingh Dadwejar, allegedly inserted a one-foot iron rod into her private parts after a reported failed attempt at sexual assault.

Police formed 10 teams, interrogated 140 suspects, narrowed to 10 via CCTV and telecom data, and arrested the father-of-three from Madhya Pradesh after the victim identified him. The accused reportedly confessed to the failed assault turning violen, according to the times of India.

The girl, stabilised at Rajkot’s government children’s hospital after severe bleeding, faces ongoing treatment amid community outrage.

Crime Scene and Swift Police Probe

The alleged attack unfolded near fields in Atkot under Jasdan taluka, where the migrant labourer family toiled. Ramsingh, a local farmhand for two years originally from Alirajpur, Madhya Pradesh, abducted the girl, gagged her, and dragged her to an isolated spot by a water tank.

When she screamed during the assault attempt, he allegedly flew into a rage, inflicting the rod injury before fleeing, leaving her in a pool of blood discovered by frantic parents.

Rajkot Rural SP Vijaysinh Gurjar detailed the manhunt: teams scoured CCTV from villages, analysed active mobiles for 140 suspects, then used child counsellors and female officers to show photos to the traumatised girl, leading to her pinpointing Ramsingh. He confessed fully during grilling. Charges filed under BNS Section 65(2) and POCSO Act Sections 5(i), 5(m), 6(1) ensure stringent action.

Victim’s Plight and Family Trauma

Rushed first to a local facility then referred to Rajkot’s government children’s hospital, the girl suffered profuse bleeding but doctors deem her condition stable, with treatment continuing.

Her parents, agricultural workers from Dahod, searched desperately upon noticing her absence, embodying rural families’ daily vulnerabilities. Neighbours rallied in shock, drawing parallels to past horrors like Nirbhaya for its brutality.

According to TOI, Gurjar noted, “He attempted to sexually assault the girl near a water tank around 11am on Dec 4. When he failed, he flew into rage and injured her with an iron rod.” No prior complaints against Ramsingh, father to a 12-year-old girl and two boys, but the case exposes gaps in monitoring migrant workers in isolated areas.

Accused Profile and Community Fallout

Ramsingh, 35, lived as a daily wager among similar migrants, blending unnoticed until this savagery. His arrest near the scene quelled immediate fears, but locals demand better farm patrols and child safety nets.

Gujarat sees rising POCSO cases, with recent convictions like a life term for a 2023 minor rape in Morbi underscoring judicial resolve, yet prevention lags.

Outrage spreads online and offline, with calls for faster trials and awareness drives. Police assure thorough probes, including alibis verified for all suspects.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

Brutality against a child shatters society’s core, urging empathy-driven reforms like community watches, swift justice, and education to shield the innocent while rehabilitating broken families. Kindness demands we foster safe havens through dialogue and vigilance, turning horror into harmony.
