Esha Singh won the bronze medal in the women’s 25-meter pistol event at the ISSF World Championship in Cairo, Egypt, in November 2025.

This is her first individual senior world championship medal and her third ISSF individual medal of the year, following gold and silver at World Cup events.

Esha secured bronze after a three-way shoot-off, scoring 30 out of 50 in the final. Fellow Indian shooter and double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker finished fifth after a shoot-off. India finished third overall with three golds, five silvers, and four bronze medals.

Esha Singh Wins Bronze

Esha Singh, 20, showcased her consistency and composure in a tough field of 85 competitors. Qualifying fifth with a score of 587, Esha advanced steadily through the knockout rounds.

Her clutch performance in the shoot-off against France’s Mathilde Lamolle and Manu Bhaker demonstrated her ability to perform under pressure. Her success reflects the strength and depth of Indian women shooters on the global stage.

Details of the Competition

The final was led by South Korea’s Olympic champion Yang Jiin and China’s Yao Qianxun, who won gold and silver with scores of 40 and 38, respectively. Esha’s impressive 30 scored her bronze, while Manu Bhaker scored 23.

The women’s 25m pistol event was one of ten Olympic shooting disciplines at the championship, where India showed a strong collective performance, finishing behind top countries China and South Korea.

Samrat Rana just days ago won India’s historic men’s 10m air pistol gold. He became the first Indian to claim an individual air pistol world title in an Olympic event.

Rising Star Esha Singh’s Journey

Esha Singh, born on January 1, 2005, in Hyderabad, Telangana, began shooting in 2014 and rapidly ascended the ranks in Indian shooting sports.

At just 13, she became the youngest national champion in the senior 10m air pistol event at the 62nd National Shooting Championships in Kerala, defeating seasoned champions like Manu Bhaker and Heena Sidhu.

She trained at the Gun for Glory Academy under coach Gagan Narang, further honing her skills. Esha’s international success includes multiple medals at the ISSF Junior World Cup, Asian Shooting Championships, and the 2022 Asian Games, marking her as one of India’s brightest young shooting talents.

India’s Growth in Women’s Shooting

India’s success in women’s shooting has blossomed over the past two decades, with trailblazers like Anjali Bhagwat and Heena Sidhu paving the way. The younger generation, led by stars like Esha Singh and Manu Bhaker, has continued this legacy by securing medals consistently at World Cups, World Championships, and the Olympics.

This rise reflects increased investment in sports infrastructure, better training facilities, and greater societal support for women athletes. Indian women shooters are now among the top contenders globally, showcasing skill, discipline, and mental resilience, thus contributing significantly to India’s growing prominence in the world shooting arena.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

Esha Singh’s achievement exemplifies perseverance, talent, and the rising prominence of Indian women athletes in a traditionally male-dominated sport.

The Logical Indian celebrates her success as a symbol of growing gender equity and sports excellence in India. Supporting such inspiring journeys fosters national pride and encourages young women across communities to pursue their dreams fearlessly.
