“Ace Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar has won women’s vault bronze medal at ART Gymnastics Asian Championships in Hiroshima, Japan.” Yet she is far away from glory. If we fail to recognize our athletes there will be darker days ahead for already neglected sports in India.
Dipa has been stunning the world with a series of great performances at international competitions for some time now. She hails from Agartala, is about 22 years of age, grabbed the bronze in vault at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and finished fourth in the Asian Games. At the National Games held in February, she begged five gold medals for her state, Tripura.
We salute Deepa for making us proud. She is inspiration to million of the girls in India. We hope she gets long due recognition and accolades.
