Attack Details and Ongoing Investigation

CCTV footage revealed that the Hyundai i20, which had been parked close to the Red Fort for over three hours, suddenly moved into traffic before the explosion. Initial investigations show the blast was caused by an ammonium nitrate-based improvised explosive device, implicating a “white-collar terror” module involving several suspects, including a radicalised doctor identified as Dr. Umar Nabi, who was driving the vehicle at the time.

Authorities have arrested several individuals linked to this terror network, with the NIA spearheading a comprehensive probe supported by the National Security Guard and forensic experts. The incident has triggered heightened security around major landmarks in Delhi and has drawn international concern and solidarity.

Public Impact and National Response

The explosion caused significant casualties and damage, destroying six cars, two e-rickshaws, and an auto rickshaw nearby, leaving many families grieving. The local community responded with shock and grief, sharing personal accounts of the blast’s impact.

Government officials visited hospitals and families of the deceased to provide support. Delhi’s vibrant cultural heritage, embodied by monuments like the Red Fort, makes the attack particularly poignant, reinforcing the collective resolve to uphold peace and security. Heightened security protocols remain in place while investigations continue.
