India has made history at the 2nd Asian Doubles Squash Championships 2025 by winning all three gold medals for the first time at a single edition of the tournament.

The event, held at the Arena Emas in Kuching, Malaysia, saw Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh claim the mixed doubles title, Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar win men’s doubles, and Anahat Singh partner with Joshna Chinappa to secure the women’s doubles crown. Velavan Senthilkumar and Joshna Chinappa also added a mixed doubles bronze, marking a landmark achievement for Indian squash.

Golden Triumph: Indian Squash Stars Shine

India’s performance was nothing short of spectacular, with each of the main titles claimed in fiercely contested finals. In men’s doubles, top seeds Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar defeated Pakistan’s Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal 2-1 (9-11, 11-5, 11-5) in an intense match that showcased India’s resilience and tactical acumen.

The women’s doubles final saw Joshna Chinappa and Anahat Singh rally from a game down to beat Malaysia’s Ainaa Amani and Xin Ying Yee 2-1 (8-11, 11-9, 11-10), a victory sealed with nerves of steel in a dramatic decider. The mixed doubles final was equally impressive, with Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh dominating Malaysia’s Rachel Arnold and Ameeshenraj Chandaran 2-0 (11-9, 11-7), demonstrating perfect chemistry and court coverage.

Background: A New Era for Indian Squash

This unprecedented sweep builds on India’s recent successes in international squash, including strong showings at the Commonwealth Games and World Championships. The 2nd Asian Doubles Squash Championships, held from 23–26 June 2025 in Kuching, Malaysia, were jointly organised by the Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia and the Squash Racquets Association of Sarawak.

The inaugural event in 2024 saw India win two titles, but this year’s clean sweep is a clear indication of the nation’s rising stature in the doubles format. The team’s success highlights the emergence of young talents like Anahat Singh, only 17, who won two golds, and the enduring excellence of veterans such as Joshna Chinappa and Abhay Singh. Velavan Senthilkumar’s consistent performances further underline the depth of Indian squash talent.
