Background and Significance
The “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” launched within Poshan Maah (Nutrition Month), represents one of India’s largest integrated efforts in public health focusing on women, adolescent girls, and children. Its goals included not only improving health and nutrition outcomes but also ensuring access to essential healthcare services through early detection and awareness campaigns.
The initiative aligned with the government’s “Whole-of-Government” and “Whole-of-Society” approach, leveraging community participation from local governance bodies and volunteers to health professionals. It addressed key issues such as maternal and child health, nutrition counselling, immunisation, and non-communicable diseases, reflecting a transformative movement to strengthen India’s healthcare infrastructure and social support systems.
