On Sunday, April 5, 2026, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed the delivery of essential Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) materials. The consignment includes kitchen sets, hygiene kits, plastic sheets, tarpaulins, and sleeping bags designed to provide immediate relief to those displaced.

According to the National Disaster Management Authority, the floods alone have destroyed 131 houses and partially damaged over 650 others, leaving many to seek refuge in makeshift outdoor shelters. “We have set up a small shelter for our children outside, but it is not suitable. Water has entered our home,” shared Abdul Razaq, a local resident, highlighting the desperate need for the waterproof tarpaulins and hygiene kits dispatched by India.
The earthquake, which struck at a depth of 186km with its epicentre in Badakhshan, further weakened already fragile infrastructure, making the delivery of HADR materials a race against time to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases and exposure-related illnesses.
