“I was in Kuwait working a night shift as a nurse when Iraq invaded. For the next 3 days, I was taking care of the patients and wounded soldiers all by myself, surviving purely on Glucose water, until an Iraqi doctor arrived.

When you see war and death up so close, you realize the true meaning of ‘Life is Now’ and I wondered what I was doing today to help the world.

When I came back to Bombay, I got heavily involved in Yoga and teaching Yoga – but it was on a trip to Thailand that I was first introduced to Foot Reflexology.

I took a course to learn reflexology and when I came back to Bombay, I trained visually impaired students from the Blind School in the same field. 6 months later, they were all well trained but no spa wanted to employ them because they weren’t as good looking, or wearing short skirts.

I decided to go by ‘Life is Now’, sold my jewelry and opened a spa of my own with visually impaired staff.

At the end of the first day, when we had given free massages, one of the girls came upto me and asked me to count her tips – she had earned only 70 rupees in tips for 6 massages. I felt terrible. But what she said to me next, changed my life. She said, ‘Madam, why you worry? 60 rupees ka recharge, 10 ki Cadbury – meri toh ho gayi Chandi!”
