“I belong to Saharanpur, India and came to Pakistan in 1952 (five years after independence.) I was 16 years old when Pakistan was created; I even saw Lord Mountbatten with my own eyes! I liked where I lived; I still miss that place, but I wanted to be a part of Pakistan so I travelled here on a bull cart and then on the train.

The first place I stayed in was Mirpur Khas, then I went to Karachi and spent half of my life there, working as a tailor. My stay at my brother’s house was uncomfortable due to bad terms with my brother’s wife so I came to this MGQ shelter home. Now, I’m just living my last days one by one.

My message for everyone is that “Life is short; live it well. You don’t know what tomorrow will bring!”
