How Delhi Police Solved The Largest Cash Robbery Case & Made It To The Limca Book of Records

You must have heard about the story of Delhi Police nabbing the driver of a cash transit van who allegedly fled away with approximately Rs. 22.50 crore. Delhi Police has entered into the Limca Book of Records from solving the biggest case robbery case in India. Delhi police track him down within 10 hours.

The driver identified as Pradeep Shukla , 35-year-old was arrested from a godown of electrical wires in Okhla Industrial Area. As per the police, the van had an armed guard who asked the driver to stop so that he could relieve himself. Instead of waiting for the guard, the driver fled away with the van.

Till Shukla was tracked, he spent around Rs 10,500 on alcohol and food. The police recovered the remaining amount stashed in nine boxes. It was found that the driver had already planned to run away with the cash in the next few hours, during the interrogation. He was booked under criminal breach of trust and other relevant sections of the IPC.

The Largest cash recovery of Rs 22,49,89,500 was accomplished by a team of Delhi Police South-East District on Nov 27, 2015. The driver of a cash van carrying nine currency chests containing Rs 22.5 crore from Axis Bank had fled away with the vehicle and the incident was reported to Okhla Industrial Area police station at 5:48 pm the previous day. An intense operation launched by the police succeeded to apprehend the accused and almost the entire amount (expect Rs 10,500 which the accused had spent) within 10 hours of reporting the case.
