In a first, Indian Army has built a road with 1.24 metric tonne of plastic waste in Guwahati. The road was constructed as part the Narangi Military Project – a pilot project of the Military Engineer Services.

This move comes after it was revealed that India is the 15th biggest plastic waste producer in the world.

According to The Guwahati Times, Goalpara became the first district in Assam to get a road which was constructed with plastic waste.

On November 22, Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar told the Lok Sabha that India’s 60 major cities produce around 4,059 tonnes of plastic waste every day.

The Logical Indian appreciates the Indian Army for doing their bit to conserve the environment.
