In a shocking incident coming to light out of Gujarat, three siblings, aged between 30 to 42 years, were rescued in Rajkot’s Kisanpura area on Sunday, December 27, after being locked in their room for close to a decade.

The trio of the two brothers and a sister had completely withdrawn themselves from society. According to their father, Navin Mehta, the siblings had isolated themselves after their mother died from a long illness.

‘My wife started keeping ill in 1986. She died five-six years later, which affected my children deeply, following which they locked themselves up. People say some relatives did black magic on them,’ said Mehta.

After an NGO, Saathi Seva Group, found the three siblings lying on the floor in a scruffy condition, they were taken out of the room. As per the NGO members, the three siblings were cleaned up and shaved later on.

‘The siblings, including brothers Amrish and Bhavesh and their sister Meghna, had locked themselves up in the room for nearly a decade, according to their father,’ said Jalpa Patel from the NGO, as reported by NewsBytes.

Patel also said, ‘They may be like what their father says (that they are mentally ill), but they need treatment urgently.’

The NGO has planned to shift the trio to a place where they can have access to food and treatment.

The trio’s father, Naveen, informed the news agency PTI that his eldest son Amrish was a practising lawyer with BA and LLB degrees. His daughter Meghana is an MA in Psychology and his youngest son is a BA in Economics.
