The brutal murder of 29-year-old merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, has sent shockwaves across the nation. Allegedly orchestrated by his wife, Muskaan Rastogi (27), and her lover, Sahil Shukla (25), the crime occurred on March 4, when Saurabh was lured into a deadly trap. After drugging him, the couple dismembered his body and concealed it in a drum filled with cement.

The police investigation revealed that Muskaan had manipulated Sahil into committing the crime through deceitful tactics, including fake Snapchat messages. Both suspects confessed after their arrest on March 18 and are currently in judicial custody.

In a shocking turn of events, Muskaan’s parents have publicly disowned her and are demanding the death penalty for both her and Sahil. New revelations also suggest that Saurabh’s six-year-old daughter might have been aware of the horrific crime.

Manipulation and Murder: A Chilling Conspiracy

Saurabh Rajput’s tragic story began with what should have been a joyful reunion. He returned to Meerut from London on February 24 to celebrate his daughter’s birthday, but unbeknownst to him, his wife had been plotting his murder for months.

Muskaan Rastogi had been in a clandestine relationship with Sahil Shukla since 2019, which she kept hidden from Saurabh. As their marriage deteriorated due to her infidelity, Muskaan sought to eliminate Saurabh as an obstacle to her future with Sahil.

The chilling details of the murder reveal a calculated plan. On March 4, Muskaan fed Saurabh food laced with sedatives, rendering him unconscious. Once incapacitated, she and Sahil brutally stabbed him to death before dismembering his body into 15 pieces in their bathroom.

To conceal their heinous act, they placed the remains in a drum filled with cement and attempted to mislead Saurabh’s family by continuing to use his mobile phone. Police Chief Ayush Vikram Singh stated that inconsistencies in their statements during questioning ultimately led to their arrest after Saurabh was reported missing by his family.

A Family Torn Apart

The background of this tragic incident paints a picture of a marriage fraught with tension and betrayal. Muskaan and Saurabh’s relationship began with love in 2016 but faced significant challenges over the years, particularly due to Muskaan’s affair with Sahil. Investigators revealed that tensions escalated when Saurabh decided to leave his job at sea to spend more time with his family, leading to conflicts between him and Muskaan.

In a disturbing twist, after committing the murder, Muskaan sent her daughter to live with her grandmother just before the crime took place. This raises alarming questions about whether the young girl may have been aware of the events unfolding around her. Reports indicate that Saurabh’s mother claimed that the child might have even said, “Papa is in the drum,” suggesting an unsettling awareness of the situation.

Following the arrest of Muskaan and Sahil on March 18, her parents publicly disowned her, expressing their horror at her actions. They condemned both her and Sahil for their roles in this tragic event and are demanding capital punishment for both individuals involved.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

This heart-wrenching case serves as a grim reminder of the devastating consequences of manipulation, betrayal, and violence within intimate relationships. It highlights an urgent need for society to address issues surrounding mental health support and domestic violence awareness.

The tragedy underscores how crucial it is for individuals in distressing relationships to seek help rather than resorting to harmful actions.

As we reflect on this heartbreaking story, we must ask ourselves: How can we foster healthier relationships within our communities? What steps can we take to ensure that individuals feel safe discussing their struggles without fear of judgment? It is essential for us as a society to engage in constructive dialogues about love, trust, and mental well-being while advocating for justice for victims like Saurabh Rajput.
