On September 21, search engine giant Google and online education company Udacity launched IT courses in India. The course will cost $148 (Rs. 9,800) per month and the duration of these degrees would be between 6 to 9 months. However, the company claims to return 50% of the tuition fee on successful completion of the degree by a student. The course will be entirely online and lessons will be given by Google instructors based in the United State.

The idea is to give quality education to 3.6 million app developers in India, the second largest after United States.

The software training shall be focused on app and mobile operating system development and will be conducted by US based Google instructors. Google, Udacity and Tata Trust have teamed up for offering 1,000 scholarships for the course. The companies also claim that upon completion of the course, all students will be invited for a job fair conducted by Google in India as reported by NDTV.

[Updated Info.] For the scholarships, from the Udacity  “To qualify, you need to have enrolled in a Nanodegree, remain enrolled, and be in compliance with Udacity’s Terms of Service until you graduate. You’ll need to complete the program within 12 months of your most recent enrollment date. Students whose employers cover or reimburse program costs do not qualify. “
