Scores people in the country are freethinking, tolerant and liberal, but there are still those who are not. One such individual happens to be a Zomato customer who refused to be served by a non-Hindu.

Twitter User Amit Shukla expressed anger and concern over the fact that he had ordered food from Zomato, and had to cancel the order because it was assigned to a non-Hindu rider.

“Just cancelled an order on @ZomatoIN they allocated a non hindu rider for my food they said they can’t change rider and can’t refund on cancellation I said you can’t force me to take a delivery I don’t want don’t refund just cancel,” he wrote on Twitter.

However, Zomato came up with a smart, classy reply, earning appreciation all over Twitter.

“Food doesn’t have a religion. Food is a religion,” Zomato responded.

The same views were echoed by Deepinder Goyal, Zomato’s founder.

“We are proud of the idea of India – and the diversity of our esteemed customers and partners. We aren’t sorry to lose any business that comes in the way of our values,” Goyal wrote.

Zomato’s epic way of rejecting the very idea of religious intolerance was lauded by Twitterati.

“What a beautiful and important msg , specially at a time when people are killing in the name of religion ? Well done @ZomatoIN , You got yourself a fan here alongwith being customer for long long time,” Twitter user Ravi wrote.

“Love when big organisations show spine and uphold the idea of India, these are trying times,” Tweeted one Roshan Rai.

The Logical Indian salutes Zomato for standing its ground on the face of prejudice and reminding us all about the idea of India.
