Video: My Auto-Rickshaw Doesn’t Run By Meter But By Heart

Supported by

UDAY JADHAV is an auto rickshaw driver, but he and his auto are nowhere similar to any other auto-rickshaws in India. He’s a man who lives by Gandhi’s principles and his auto-rickshaw is no different. He comes from a middle class family with a load of responsibilities. He drives his auto-rickshaw on the concept of gift economy – pay what you want. The rate meter always reads zero because of this concept.

He pins badges with smileys on everyone who sit in his auto-rickshaw. His auto-rickshaw has such features which are not even available in a cab. He provides the passengers with food to eat, water to drink, magazine/books to read, music to hear, a fan for summers and the best of all – a dustbin, so that the streets remain clean.
