In a heartwarming gesture, 67-year-old Anushya got to celebrate her birthday for the first time on November 27. It was not with her family, but with the men and women dressed in khaki at the Pazhavanthangal Police Station in Nanganallur, Chennai who celebrated Anushya’s special day.

Elderly lady abandoned by son

Reportedly, around a year ago, the Pazhavanthangal police found Anushya weeping at her doorstep. Talking to The Logical Indian, Inspector G Venkatesan said that her husband had died a few years ago and her son, who is an alcoholic has abandoned Anushya, forcing her to spend her days in poverty and loneliness.

She did not have anywhere to go and did not even want to file a case against her son. However, the empathetic police of the Pazhavanthangal Police Station decided to do something about it. The police arranged a job for Anushya, which could help her live with dignity.

The police station started to look after her meals and provided her with breakfast, lunch and dinner once she agreed to start working at the station as a help. Reportedly, Anushya has been entrusted with the responsibility of keeping the premises clean and filling water bottles for the police officers, among others.

November 27 too, was a normal day for all, however, Inspector G Venkatesan was taken aback after Anushya came over to his desk and handed a chocolate to him and informed him that it was her birthday.

Venkatesan decided to turn her day around and surprise her. The police officers brought a cake and gifts for her. The surprise birthday bash elated the senior citizen who never had a party thrown for her before.

While the police officers at the Pazhavanthangal Police Station were not compelled to throw a party for Anushya, this gesture certainly made an old lonely woman very happy. The Logical Indian applauds the police officers for this heartwarming gesture.
