Pakistani Man Writes Heartwarming Letter To Indian Mother Who Donated Her Son’s Heart To Him

A Pakistani man, who got a heart transplant from an accident victim in Chennai in 2015, wrote a heartwarming letter thanking the donor’s mother.

A Heart in need

Faisal Abdullah Malik, a 37-year-old banker, from Karachi, found in 2014, that he had a heart condition called viral myocarditis. He suffered from viral myocarditis, which is a fatal cardiac condition. To treat it, a heart transplant was necessary. In order to operate, first his failing organs- lungs, liver and kidneys were stabilised. Then the wait for a heart began. His wait was over in 22 days.

The heart transplant was done on January 2, 2015, by a team led by Dr. K. R. Balakrishnan, at Fortis Malar Hospital, Chennai. He was operated within 90 minutes.

Malik said that diagnosis in Pakistan was like a death sentence. And he thought that he would drop dead anytime leaving behind a widow and two fatherless children at any moment.

He turned to several countries for the treatment but was rejected. At the end, he was accepted at the Fortis Malar Hospital, Chennai, India.

Help in sight

Mohin Raj Singh, 22-year-old, was a web developer. He met with a motorcycle accident and was left brain dead, in Coimbatore. Mohin’s mother donated his organs after his death. And Malik received his heart.

Malik’s Letter to Mohin’s Mother:

Malik’s thankful to everyone including the Indian government, the doctors and nurses. But he’s most grateful to Mohin’s mother. In an open letter, calling her “mother”, he wrote:

“You and I may never meet or even speak but we will remain forever connected at the divine-spiritual level. Your son and I will remain forever entwined as the heart that grew in your womb, now pumps blood through my body. We have merged and your son will forever live in me,” as reported by Khaleej Times.
