Mr. Vivek Vadke a 59 year old chemical engineer from Thane has showed an exemplary effort in helping the farmers of Maharashtra. He donated about 6 lakhs rupee to farmers in their plight of drought. For collecting the amount he cut down his Daughter’s Marriage fund to help the farmers of 2 drought affected villages in Marathwada, Padali village in Jalna and Dapshed village in Nanded.
The step taken by him is commendable. Mr. Vivek and his wife Vasanti are always involved in social activities. And this time they managed to cut the decoration expenditure and saved about 6 lakh from their daughter’s marriage fund. After their daughter’s marriage, they personally handed the amount to the villagers.
“After visiting the villages, we realized that the best way to use the money would be to help deepen and widen the water resources in these villages to increase their capacity for the monsoon.” Vivek Vadke told The Times of India.
In another example Mr. Biman Biswas, who is a senior section engineer in Central Railways is supporting about 10 farmers. These farmers are from the same drought affected area in Marathwada. He donates about 40% of his salary to these farmers. He had started the charity with two farmers and soon increased the number while he realized that his small contribution can save lives.
“All my leaves were used to travel to villages in Yavatmal and Beed. The issue of farmer suicide is beyond drought, fair prices, cultivation practices are all related. It’s a matter of small donations and we can save them. More and more people should start adopting families of farmers who are in need,” Vivek Vadke told The Times of India.

We salute these peoples for their endeavor in helping people. It is really hard to secede a major portion of earned money for welfare of other people, but it gives a different kind of satisfaction which humans always seek. The one who are doing this are not great because they are doing charity, but because their contribution will prevent people from dying.
