A Daughter Like No Other: Girl Donates 65% Of Liver To Her Ailing Father To Save His Life

The heroic action of 19-year-old Rakhi Dutta who donated 65% of her liver to save her father’s life has been going viral on social media.

Rakhi’s father was fighting a losing battle against Jaundice when he was rushed to AIG hospital in Hyderabad by Rakhi and her sister. He had lost 90% of his liver, and a liver transplant was crucial for his survival. She shared that on hearing the doctors say that her liver would be suitable and would grow back in about 3-4 months, she didn’t hesitate or think twice about donating a portion of her liver. After this, Rakhi underwent a series of 109 tests and a 15-hour procedure to donate 65% of her liver. Her friend Devarchita Das first shared the news on his facebook on April 15th.

Soon on April 18th, a picture of Rakhi standing next to her father bearing a gruesome scar across her midriff was posted by the billionaire businessman Harsh Goenka on his twitter handle, and this has been garnering social media praise ever since. The tweet has garnered over 1.1 K comments, 8.3 K retweets and has been liked 34K times.

Well-wishes and appreciation re-tweets and posts have been growing viral on social media saluting her brave and bold move and calling her a “Brave Heart Daughter”.
