As the temperature is on a constant rise in various parts of the country, a group of IT professionals have found an easy, yet, effective solution to help out little feathered friends. Progressive Techies, a group of people working in different IT companies in Kerala’s Kochi, have started the #BirdBathChallenge on April 3, to help the birds have an easier summer.

The #BirdBathChallenge in association with Progressive Techies was officially inaugurated on 3rd of April, 2019…

What is the challenge?

Those accepting the challenge should keep a vessel or a bowl filled with clean water which would come as a respite for the birds. To make the challenge eco-friendly, those who take up the challenge should use clay vessels instead of plastic ones and it should be kept outside their houses or workspaces.

The Progressive Techies reportedly decided to start such a challenge after some of them had already implemented the challenge successfully. “Though this kind of a challenge was first of its kind, we have tested the feasibility and effect of the campaign. Some of us had started experimenting this in our homes and it was found to be very successful. Though only a one or two birds showed up in the first few days, now there are frequent and a variety of birds,” Anish Panthalani, member of Progressive Techies told The News Minute.

To further the challenge, those who accept the challenge will have to click a picture with the bird bowls and then tag five other people to take up the challenge on social media. Albeit birds can withdraw some moisture from the food, they need to drink water every day. Apart from drinking, the birds can bathe in it as well.

Since birds are reluctant to use man-made sources of water, the organisers have urged people to keep the vessels in secluded areas like in the garden or under a tree shade where birds can come and have fresh water in this scorching heat, reported The Times Of India.

During the summer seasons, while we remember to take care of ourselves and stay hydrated, we often forget about our furry and feathered friends. With no water or respite from the scorching heat, these helpless creatures are left to fend for themselves. The Logical Indian applauds the group of techies for their unique initiative in the form of a fun challenge which is hopefully going to make even more people aware of the situation.
