Despite Suffering Financial Distress Himself, This Auto Driver Returned Rs 10 Lakh Left By Passengers

A Telangana auto-driver returned a bag full of Rs 10 lakh cash to two passengers who had forgotten it behind in his auto. The deed by the auto-driver J Ramulu deserves is noteworthy considering he himself is suffering from distress and did not get swayed by the circumstances and acted honestly.

To thank Ramulu for returning their money, the two brothers, who run a grocery store in Hyderabad awarded him Rs 10,000.

Good Samaritan

30-year-old Ramulu, a tribal from Devarakonda in Nalgonda district, after dropping the two passengers at Sri Ram Nagar Colony in Gachibowli noticed that they had left their bag in the auto. He opened the bag only to find a stack of cash inside it. “I was scared but by that time, I had almost reached Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) in Secunderabad where I operate from.” He then drove “non-stop” back to Sri Ram Nagar Colony where the two passengers got down from the auto.

Ramulu, while speaking to the media said that he could have led a comfortable life for at least two years with this money, but he was not comfortable living a dishonest life, hence he returned the cash. Ramulu earns a meagre Rs 500 per day. He lives with his wife who is a labourer and they have two school going kids. Ramulu has a loan worth of Rs 1.5 lakh on his auto.

Fortunately, both the brothers- K Prasad and K Kishore were at the same place where they were dropped. The duo was looking for the auto along with a few police personnel. Prasad and Kishore run a grocery shop in Siddipet and were carrying the money since they are constructing a house. Prasad told The Times of India, “I suffered a fracture on my leg recently and while getting down from the auto I experienced severe pain. While tending to it, we forgot about the bag and left it behind in the auto we were travelling in.”

They were analysing the CCTV cameras with the police when Ramulu returned with their bag. Prasad said that Ramulu’s act showed that honesty still existed in today’s world.

The Logical Indian Take

Ramulu truly showed the strength of character. People with strong values seldom budge in testing times and Ramulu has proven just that. Despite facing financial problems himself, he was honest and returned the bag full of money. The Logical Indian appreciates Ramulu and also the two brothers for rewarding him for his honesty.
