On the evening of November 10, 2025, a Hyundai i20 car exploded near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi, killing nine people and injuring over 20 others.
The blast occurred around 6:52 pm in a busy area, causing extensive damage and panic. Investigations point to a terror attack linked to a suspected module operating between Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
According to NDTV, the identified is Dr Mohammad Umar, as a key suspect associated with the blast. According to Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, the slow-moving car suddenly exploded at a red light, severely damaging nearby vehicles and causing casualties in the crowded locality.
Forensic teams quickly arrived on the scene, detecting the use of ammonium nitrate, a potent explosive commonly used in terror attacks. Emergency responders rushed to extinguish fires and aid the injured, who were transported to LNJP and AIIMS hospitals. The blast has been linked to a “white collar” terror module recently uncovered in Faridabad, Haryana, where authorities seized nearly 2,900 kg of explosive materials and arrested several suspects, including doctors with alleged militant affiliations.
Following the arrest of Dr Muzzamil Shakeel in Faridabad, it is believed that Dr Umar Mohammad panicked and hastily executed the blast. The car’s ownership trail revealed multiple transfers, from Md Salman to Devender, then to Amir, and finally to Tariq and Umar, highlighting the complexity of the terror module’s operational network.
Authorities have detained Tariq and Amir for questioning. Security has been intensified at strategic locations, including Jammu’s Vaishno Devi shrine, Indira Gandhi Airport, and border points around Delhi.
