Uttar Pradesh: Father Drowns Twenty-Day Old Twin Daughters As He Could Not Bear Their Expenses

Twenty-day old twin daughters were drowned in a pond by their parents in Uttar-Pradesh’s Bhikki village on September 21, Saturday. The parents, Waseem, a daily wage labourer, and his wife Nazma, claimed that they carried this act as they couldn’t bear the twins’ expenses.

The parents had an argument on Saturday night following which the newborns were thrown to die in a nearby pond, the SHO said, adding that the daughters were drowned to death. Waseem and Nazma also have a 7-year-old son.

The neighbours alleged that the couple never wanted the girls in the first place and fought over their birth.

Waseem himself lodged a missing report of his daughters. Waseem, in the complaint, reported that when he woke up on Sunday morning he found his daughters missing, the officer said.

After the investigation carried out by the Police it was found that the couple deliberately killed their daughters to escape from their responsibilities. The parents confessed their crime and said, “Our financial condition is very weak. We could not have borne the expenses for our two daughters.”

The parents have been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing the disappearance of evidence of the offence, or giving false information to screen offender) after the bodies were recovered and sent for postmortem.
