Fact Check: PM Modi's Old Tweet Goes Viral Linking It To To Fadnavis' Resignation

A collective screenshot of two tweets sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going viral on Facebook which congratulates Former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and Former State Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. The first twitter message reads, “Congratulations to @Dev_Fadnavis Ji and @AjitPawarSpeaks Ji on taking oath as the CM and Deputy CM of Maharashtra respectively. I am confident they will work diligently for the bright future of Maharashtra.”

And the second tweet which is in Hindi, reads, “I realized today how sometimes endless joy turns to endless grief.”

Along with an image is a caption which says, “First reaction of PM Modi after the resignation of CM Fadnavis.”

Fact Check

On searching for both these tweets on the official twitter account of PM Modi, we found that he indeed posted a congratulatory message on November 23 for both Fadnavis and Pawar soon after they took oath as CM and Deputy CM of Maharashtra respectively.

The second tweet was actually put out on 13 July 2016, where PM Modi condoles the death of Praful Bhai Doshi, a senior RSS Leader from Gujarat.


Conclusion

The tweets given are true, but they have been combined and put out on social media to mislead other people. Hence, the image of both the combined tweets do not have the same context and is false.
