We might complain about the corrupt nature of our system, but most of us hide under the veil of inaction when it comes to taking a stand for what is right. However, Dr. Anand Rai is definitely not one of them; he becomes the hero of our time by fighting against the scam within the system.
Anand becomes an inspiration to all of us as he became the perpetrator to unlocking the infamous Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh. In a nutshell, Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), or “Vyapam”, is a government body responsible for conducting several entrance tests in the state. Admissions to educational institutes in the state fall in the hands of this as well. The scam unearthed undeserving applicant, who bribed the officials through middlemen, for getting high ranks.
Despite of receiving threatening calls to be put to a stop, Dr. Anand Rai faced the odds and is helping the police by being the whistleblower on the Medical School exams being rigged in Madhya Pradesh. But not only that, he has been fighting against the repeated attempts for the case to be suppressed which he claims are disguised as accidents instead of murders of those closely associated with the affair.
The Indore based doctor fights for those deserving candidates who have worked hard to be where they are today. We all know such irregularities do occur, but very few have the courage to step forward and dedicate years to turn one wrong into a right. As he said to one media outlet, “”The revelation shocked me. I was apprehensive of the extent of the scam. If there were as many as 280 proxy candidates at just one centre, the number was bound to multiply across other medical colleges.”
He was threatened to go against the government. Despite of involvement of various politicians and prominent people, despite of being under constant threat for being the whistle-blower to this major scam, he stands strongly for what is right and has been constantly putting pressure to make sure that the one who deserves, wins.
