Despite His Condition That Makes Him Weaker By The Day, This Young Man Lives To The Fullest

Why is it always me?” I asked. “Because you are one of my strongest creation and not allowed to be weak,” God answered. “And then the man is back again even stronger than ever before.” – He posted on his Facebook wall.

Mohit was six years old when he was diagnosed with Muscular dystrophy, a muscle disease which results in weakening and breakdown of skeletal muscles over time. But neither he nor his parents were ready to confine Mohit within the four walls of their home, sulking about the misfortune. Now, this 30-year-old young man from Delhi inspires many through his sheer perseverance and willpower.

Despite his condition, he did his schooling like a normal child. His friends never bullied him, his teachers never made him feel out of place. Rather, they all stand by his side.“I owe everything to my parents, teachers and friends. They all are supportive of me,” Mohit Chauhan told The Logical Indian.

Mohit had to drop his studies from class 10 since his health condition worsened, but he continued his studies privately and secured an MBA from Symbiosis University, Pune.

His muscles may be getting weaker, but his hopes and passion are getting stronger day by day. “I had a small business of trading in the stock market which I had to stop since I’m not able to sit continuously for so long and it needs full attention. Now I only do investment in the stock market to make my living,” Mohit said. His physical shortcoming never acted as a hindrance to his dreams.

Mohit’s world of poetry

Mohit is now focusing on his world of poetry and he has officially begun writing poems in a website called yourquote.in. “Now my whole focus is on my poetry. I don’t want to be a “Ghalib” or “Jaun Elia”. I wanna be a “Mohit Chauhan”. Some of his poems were published in Amar Ujala’s online edition. “I started my poetry one and a half years back after a girl came in my life. She is my muse. We’re still together. But the persons who motivated me to go official are my bhabhi and one of my elder cousins,” he said.

He has performed his poetry at four different events in Delhi and was invited as a chief guest at Jamia Milia University, Delhi.

Stephen Hawking as the role model

Mohit considers Stephen Hawking as his role model. “We have to discover the potentialities in us. As far as I am concerned, my disease keeps me motivated and I am living my life to the fullest,” Mohit said.

Mohit’s family consists of his father who is working as a director in a private firm and mother who is a housewife and a younger brother who is working in a private company. “They never let me down. They keep on motivating me and extend their whole support. I cannot sit for a long time, I need to lie down at regular intervals. Without any hesitation, they look after me ” he said.

Mohit’s message to the readers

“Live today and you’ll live forever.

Express your love now and you’ll never fall short of affection.

Resolve every misunderstanding today and you’ll never fall short of happiness.

Forgive today and you’ll never be forgotten,

Because someone rightly said “picture abhi baaki hai mere dost” par kya pata “Kal ho na ho.”
